“We must take care of our families wherever we find them.”

-Elizabeth Gilbert

Our somewhat smug figure in the Nine finally decided to uncross his arms and share the love.

Lo and behold, like the loaves and the fishes, as it was shared the supply only grew.

The Ten of Cups celebrates the love of family, including the ‘chosen families’ of those who are not properly cherished by the families they were born into. It’s about the joy we feel in the company of those closest to us, in whose company we can be freely and beautifully ourselves.

There is also knowledge that we are not alone. Even if we strike out from this lovely picture to pursue some quest, the love and care we experience here will go with us to aid in our success. There aren’t usually a lot of material possessions displayed on this card, but it has a lavish feel all the same. The Ten of Cups recognizes what a shining treasure the love in our lives is.

Meditations/ Questions for a Ten of Cups Day

In what place and among which people do you feel entirely at ease and safe? Do you create that for someone else?

Do you have a ‘chosen family’ as well as (or in lieu of) your immediate blood family?

Who do you most want around when you’re down and need a little TLC?

When you imagine an ideal loving family, what are the most important things that make it so?

People will almost never regret treating somebody they love with more kindness and warmth than necessary.
