The DPT Philosophy
Of course we’ve had experiences when our card-of-the-day seemed eerily prescient, but we believe it’s much more useful to use Tarot as a tool for self-exploration and awareness than as a fortune-telling device.
Drawing a card every day and thinking about its traditional meaning, as well as the personal meaning it has for you, can lead to a deeper understanding of yourself and others around you. If you begin your practice with an open mind and a spirit of curiosity it can be a lot of fun. Particularly if you have a ‘Tarot Buddy’ with whom to start your practice.
We know about synchronicity and are not closed to the idea that a card comes up on a given day for a specific purpose. We’ve had the experience ourselves. But we do not necessarily believe the future can be told because… well, because it hasn’t happened yet.
We also think it can get downright unhealthy to be constantly consulting a device you believe will tell you the future. It can get obsessive (there’s a great old Twilight Zone episode about this with William Shatner entranced by an old-style fortune-telling machine) and take a person completely out of the present moment in which they are living.
If you’re curious at all about using Tarot in this way, you’ll find everything (except the deck, of course) that you need to get started on this site. We hope you’ll give it a try.
