“Plants want to grow; they are on your side as long as you are reasonably sensible.”
-Anne Wareham
Sometimes called the “farmer’s” card, the Seven of Disks is that moment when we realize our work has taken on a life of its own. We still need to shepherd our project but moment-by-moment attention is no longer necessary.
The farmer spends the early stages of a plant’s growth protecting and directing his crops, which requires vigilance. In later stages there is room to back off a bit. Regular maintenance will have to be done to get to the big harvest, but the fragile stage of beginning is over. Some of the freed mental energy can be used to plan a more long-term future.
A good gardener need consistency and patience to get to this point. Plants aren’t fostered in one big burst of energy, but through many conscientious and sustained small attentions. This card advises taking that approach to anything you are looking to grow in your life.

Meditations/ Questions for a Seven of Wands Day
Is there a long term-project you’ve been working on that is beginning to show some promise?
What payoff for previous work are you most looking forward to?
Is your work style generally patient or hurried?
Children, like gardens, grow to a point where they do not need constant attention.
