KNIGHT/PRINCE

of CUPS

This is a card of…

Introspection

Spiritual seeking

Emotional healing

Moodiness

“Writing is a form of therapy; sometimes I wonder how all those who do not write, compose, or paint can manage to escape the madness, melancholia, the panic and fear which is inherent in a human situation.”

-Graham Greene

This Knight is usually on an emotional or spiritual quest. It is often, though not always, directed inward. He’s seeking the deeper truths within himself to better understand the deeper truths of the world.

He also might be riding forth to defend the voiceless and disenfranchised, or to offer relief to the needy. His quest could be more personal: the search for true love is governed by this card, as are recovery programs and psychotherapy. There is often a “wounded healer” vibe to these heroes to the less fortunate.

Whatever he seeks, he seeks because his heart wants it and his heart leads the way.

Water can move as a raging flood or a slow trickle or anything in between, and his moods are likewise variable. This combined with his introspective nature make it difficult for him to form close bonds.

This Knight often feels the need to express himself through journaling, sketching or poetry- meant not for others’ consumption but to help him navigate his own way.

His sensitivity and drive to move through the depths of consciousness can express negatively as deep social anxiety, maudlin self-pity, or the abuse of psychoactive drugs; as well as a vulnerability to cult-style recruitment.
