KNIGHT

of WANDS

This is a card of…

Initiative

Risk

Impulsiveness

“Think of horse races. People like to bet on the one with three legs and a wheeze. They don’t bet on that one because they think it will win, but because they can see how very glorious it would be if it were to win.”

-Natasha Pulley, The Watchmaker of Filigree Street

This fiery Knight loves the chase, the pure thrill of going after the prize is often more appealing than attaining it. He has tremendous drive but little patience.

His goal is usually one that comes with power and visible status. He doesn’t want to simply win, a big part of the victory is others seeing and recognizing his triumph. Political power, the corner office, the summit of K2: all these would be enticing goals to the Knight of Wands. Fire is associated with action, so if the contest is athletic or physically challenging, so much the better. (When your otherwise mild-mannered officemate starts pushing everyone to go to the batting range because your team must win the company softball tournament, he’s getting in touch with his inner Knight of Wands.)

He’s an exciting person to be around. His energy and charisma are catching, particularly if his focus is on you. In the arena of sexual desire- a very Wands area- be on guard that this Knight may be more interested in making a conquest than starting a relationship. When he is interested in romance it’s usually rescue-the-princess flavor he likes.

In all arenas his ambition is burning and he considers no level of attainment out of his reach. This Knight moves fast, but not very carefully, for him risk is part of the fun. Negatively expressed this could lead to compulsive gambling, or reckless thrill-seeking.
